Selected neonicotinoids and associated risk for aquatic organisms

چکیده

Neonicotinoids are one of the newest groups systemic pesticides, effective on a wide range invertebrate pests. The success neonicotinoids can be assessed according to amount used, for example, in Czech Republic, which now accounts 1/3 insecticide market. European Union (EU) has relatively interesting attitude towards neonicotinoids. Three neonicotinoid substances (imidacloprid, clothianidin and thiamethoxam) were severely restricted 2013. In 2019, imidacloprid banned, while thiamethoxam thiacloprid banned 2020. 2022, another substance, sulfoxaflor, was banned. Therefore, only two (acetamiprid flupyradifurone) approved outdoor use EU. enter aquatic ecosystems many ways. rivers, usually occur nanograms per litre. Due low toxicity standard test species, they not expected significantly impact ecosystem until later studies showed that invertebrates, especially insects, much more sensitive addition lethal effects, point sublethal impacts - reduced reproductive capacity, initiation downstream drift organisms, ability eat, or change feeding strategies. affect individuals, populations, entire ecosystems.

Effects of magnesium, chromium, iron and zinc from food supplements on selected aquatic organisms.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of uncontrolled environmental disposal of food supplements containing magnesium (Mg), chromium (Cr), iron (Fe) and zinc (Zn) on selected aquatic organisms including freshwater algae Scenedesmus subspicatus and Raphidocelis subcapitata, water flea Daphnia magna and duckweed Lemna minor. Thirty different food supplements containing Mg, Cr, Fe and ...

Polar Narcosis in Aquatic Organisms

The majority of industrial organic chemicals lack identifiable structural characteristics that result in specific biological activity. These nonpolar-nonelectrolytes are acutely toxic to aquatic organisms via a nonspecific mode of action termed narcosis. The toxicity of industrial chemicals eliciting nonpolar narcosis can be reliably predicted by log P (baseline toxicity models). Using single c...

Sexuality and Early Development in Aquatic Organisms

Large offshore and small inshore populations of Atlantic cod Gadus morhua L. display differences in migratory patterns and settling regimes, but little is known about possible differences in spawning behaviour. Cod presumably of the Norwegian coastal cod type were therefore sampled during 7 spawning seasons (2002−2013) in Malangen, northern Norway. A spawning site in neighbouring Balsfjord was ...

Contamination of the Aquatic Environment with Neonicotinoids and its Implication for Ecosystems

The widespread use of systemic neonicotinoid insecticides in agriculture results first in contamination of the soil of the treated crops, and secondly in the transfer of residues to the aquatic environment. The high toxicity of these insecticides to aquatic insects and other arthropods has been recognized, but there is little awareness of the impacts these chemicals have on aquatic environments...
